Quarterly Finals Tournament - 3rd Quarter

Paul Weadon - 3rd Quarter Finals Tournament winner - Oct 11, 2008

Congrats to Quarterly Final winner Paul Weadon at The Village Grill - October 11th, 2008.

The third Quarterly of the year brought a packed house to the Village Grill.  Eighty six people took their seats and played as seriously as I have seen to date.  When you look at the pictures from the event you will see just how tight it was but you can't see how tight the play was.  We were almost an hour in before we lost our first player.  Paul Weadon prevailed to take first place honors and the $2500 buy in prize.  Second place went to John Cutler.  Three through nine are as follows: Brian Riffle, Suresh Suryawanshi, Eddie Boupha, Rick Fisher, Dustin Dudinski, Strider Northcutt, and Tonya Trivett.  Many thanks to all the players and the staff of the Village Grill for making this a great event.

And if you REALLY want me to defend the All American Poker League money by playing in the Quarterly........

Thanks Again, - Klop

Quarterly Finals Tournament - 2nd Quarter

Anthony Johnson (AAPL) (L) and winner Scott Groves (R)

Anthony Johnson (AAPL) and winner Scott Groves (July 20,2008)

It was the quietest and most serious Quarterly to date.  Everyone seemed intent on taking home the WSOP $2500 Buy-in.  Scott Groves managed to win it all with a 9 7 off suit push against Dzenan Husauouc, who thought hard about the call and made the right call with a J 8 off.  As fate would have it, Scott paired the 7 on the flop and Dzenan watched as the turn and river left him chipless.  Veena Runyan finished in third, Kevin Phillips fourth, Robert Moore fifth, Duane Thompson sixth, Michelle Lavenstein seventh, Teresa Sturm eighth, Roger Coffy ninth, and Joe T. Ecklund tenth.  A special thanks to Jen and Katie for a great job taking care of the players.

Thanks to all who participated,
- Klop

Note: All Players Must Be 21 Years of Age to Play in the Quarterly.

Quarterly Finals Tournament - 1st Quarter

Rob Ellis(L) of AAPL with winner Ryan Brooks.(R) Ryan is holding his winning certificate for a $2500 buy-in at a forthcoming WSOP event.

Rob Ellis (AAPL) and winner Ryan Brooks

The April 12th Quarterly Finals Tournament was a great success.  Of the 122 people qualified, we had 75 show up to play for the $2500 WSOP Buy-in.  There appeared to be a lot of excitement in the room as players were eliminated and it came closer to the final table.  The play was fast and furious at the final table but slowed as it reached 4 players.  Ultimately Ryan Brooks triumphed over Katie Morton with a come from behind All-in, Katie had top pair with Queens and Ryan called with middle pair, Jacks.  Ryan turned trip Jacks and the river helped no one.  Mark Baxman finished third and Patrick Prosper finished fourth.  In order from fifth to tenth were Jessica Green, Roxanne Shifflet, Duane Thompson, Eddie Boupha, Annette Coffey and Cameron Brooks.  A special thanks to Melissa and Jill for an outstanding job taking care of the players.  - Klop

The bigger the field, the more points there are to win and place -the way it should be!  Yes, it's complicated.  That's why we have gone through the trouble of hiring a fleet of rocket scientists to figure it out for us and to ensure accuracy.  This is also a good example of why you shouldn't ignore the importance of math in grade school!   Have fun and check the Points Page for updates every week.

Any nightly winners qualify for next Quarterly Finals in 3 months.  After that, the Top Point getters without a win will qualify until the 120 seat limit is reached.
